THREE DOMINICAN WOMEN SAINTS: ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA, ST CATHERINE D’RICCI AND ST. ROSE OF LIMA

Join us as we explore the lives and spirituality of three prominent Dominican women saints.  We will explore the Dominican charism and see how it played out in the lives of these three women in their different time periods and with three very different personalities. We will explore their lives and writings, and various works on them, such as biographies, letters they wrote, and any spiritual writings or saying they left behind for us.  St Catherine of Siena is the most well-known, and also one of the few women doctors of the church.  St Catherine of Ricci was known for her deep spirituality of the crucifix.  St Rose of Lima is a saint of Peru and also known for her mystical experiences and great healing abilities.  All three of them had great interior connection with the divine as well as outward signs in their lives, some were more active than others, but all lived out the Dominican motto of ‘to contemplate and give to others the fruits of contemplation’, as well as lived out the Dominican charism and mission of preaching, in one form or another, all centered in the basic tenet for the Dominicans of veritas – truth.  After exploring their lives and spirituality we will also consider how we can incorporate their spirituality into our lives, as appropriate.
