Devotions in Honor of the Holy Cross

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Your Son taught us through His life and His death on the Cross the true meaning of sacrificial love. He turned an instrument of shame and agony into a symbol of hope and redemption. Help us to embrace the Cross not only as a reminder of His sacrifice but also as a call to take up our own crosses daily and follow Jesus with courage and faithfulness.

(Pause to pray for the crosses we or others bear today)

May our devotion to the Cross, the sign of our salvation, give us the strength to be faithful to Christ through all our joys and sorrows. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. — Amen.

Litany of the Holy Cross

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God…
by your Holy Cross, sign of salvation, — save us
by your Holy Cross, triumph of love, — save us
by your Holy Cross, source of redemption, — save us
by your Holy Cross, tree of life, — save us
by your Holy Cross, symbol of hope, — save us
by your Holy Cross, our refuge and strength, — save us
by your Holy Cross, our light in darkness, — save us
by your Holy Cross, victory over sin and death, — save us
by your Holy Cross, where mercy and justice meet, — save us
by your Holy Cross, where suffering is transformed, — save us
by your Holy Cross, guide on our journey, — save us
by your Holy Cross, our beacon of faith, — save us
by your Holy Cross, our source of forgiveness, — save us
by your Holy Cross, our glory and joy, — save us
by your Holy Cross, cherished by the Church, — save us
by your Holy Cross, strength of martyrs, — save us
by your Holy Cross, sign of God’s infinite love, — save us

We adore You O Christ, — for by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

Closing Prayer

Let us pray,
Father, may your Holy Spirit grant us the grace to see beyond the pain and suffering of the Cross to the triumph of the Resurrection. May the Cross be for us a source of strength in times of trial, a beacon of light in moments of darkness, and a symbol of victory over sin and death.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. — Amen.
