Shakespeare once wrote that parting is such sweet sorrow, and so it is that we bid farewell to Fr. Michael Carnevale, O.F.M., who is retiring to St. Petersburg, FL this week after serving at St. Francis of Assisi for many years, including a stint as Pastor and Guardian in the late 1980’s.
Throughout his more than 50 years as a Franciscan priest, Fr. Michael has brought a unique blend of compassion, wisdom and humor to his ministry, whether it be in the confessional or counseling parlor, a hospital bed side or a grave side. Fr. Michael has probably performed more baptisms and weddings than all of the friars combined. A night out at a good Italian restaurant or a Broadway show were just a few of his favorite things!
Here are a few recent photos of Fr. Michael doing what he does best – enjoying the company of people with lots of laughter!
