For The Sick
We minister to the sick in a variety of ways at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi.
We celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
The Anointing of the sick is celebrated to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an emotional, physical, or psychological illness. During the sacrament, we pray that the sick be healed in body, in soul and in spirit. The Sacrament of Anointing does not remove the mystery of human suffering. Yet its celebration gives us a window into the mystery of our loving God.
The Anointing of the Sick is celebrated communally each year usually at a special Mass on Saturday near the Feast of our Lady of Lourdes.
For people suffering serious illness who would like to be anointed individually, please contact the director of evangelization, Joseph Nuzzi, at jnuzzi@stfrancisnyc.org.
We bring Communion to members of our parish who are sick and homebound
If you are a member of the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and are homebound because of illness, please contact Edward Trochimczuk at etrochimczuk@stfrancisnyc.org to arrange for a Eucharistic Minister to bring communion to you at home.
We pray for the sick
There are special cards specifically for the sick that are available at our front desk or you can purchase it online HERE. In addition, we have special prayers for the sick on our website that you can say for yourself or your loved ones who are ill.
