Do you have love for the environment and a desire to protect it?
Do you want people in the future to experience the wonders of God’s creation: clean water, a stable climate, healthy air to breathe, and fairly distributed resources?
The needs of the environment often seem overwhelming and no one can protect it alone. We invite you to join the Laudato Si Environmental Ministry at St. Francis of Assisi Church to seek solutions through spirituality, advocacy and education.
Our group works to provide education and advocate on the city and state level for environmental legislation. We are working to provide greenery in and around the Church, especially as St. Francis sits in an asphalt environment that is subject to urban island heat. We collaborate with Metro New York Catholic Climate Movement, a local chapter of the Global Catholic Climate Movement, formed with the support of Pope Francis to integrate Laudato Si’ into Catholic life and action.
Our group meets the FIRST or SECOND MONDAY (depending on holidays) of every month at 5:30PM in the Clare Room. We hope you’ll join us. The next meetings are scheduled for November 9 and December 7.
