Fr. Kevin Mullen, O.F.M., Minister Provincial of Holy Name Province will be the principal celebrant at a Mass on Wednesday, June 19, at 5:30 PM for Fr. Dominic Ternan, O.F.M. on the 75th Anniversary of his death during World War II.

Fr. Dominic’s first assignment was at St. Francis of Assisi from 1937 to 1942. His next assignment was as a U.S. Army chaplain. He successfully landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944 where he blessed many dead bodies and wounded soldiers. On June 19th, while ministering to a wounded sergeant, he was killed by a German sniper in Chateau Sevigny, France. Fr. Dominic was the first Franciscan to be awarded the Silver Star.

Members of Fr. Dominic’s family, as well as clergy from Jesuit schools from which Dominic graduated, and a U.S. Army Color Guard from West Point will be present.
